Taiwu Monthly Report Explained — What Happens at Month End
Each month in Scroll of Taiwu ends with a transition scene and a Monthly Report. This guide explains what the report shows, how seasons affect the game, and what to do with the information.
How time works in Taiwu
The Scroll of Taiwu runs on an in-game calendar measured in years and months using the traditional Chinese twelve-branch cycle: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each month corresponds to a season — spring, summer, autumn, or winter — and seasons change what resources are available, how enemies behave, and whether natural injury recovery is possible.
At the end of every month the game pauses for a month-change sequence. A cinematic transition plays, showing the season and a brief atmospheric quote. Then the Taiwu Monthly Report appears — a digest of everything that happened in that month.
- 12 months per year, each named after a zodiac branch.
- Month of Rat = Month 11, late autumn into early winter.
- Season affects resource availability, NPC behavior, and injury recovery.
- Month-end is the game's auto-save point — there is no manual save mid-month.
- The cinematic transition is skippable but contains seasonal information.

Reading the Monthly Report
After the transition cinematic the Taiwu Monthly Report opens automatically. It is divided into three columns: Taiwu Notes (events your character was directly involved in), World Events (things that happened across the wider world that month), and Interactions (social actions between characters).
Taiwu Notes tracks your personal actions — fights you took, encounters you had, places you visited. World Events is a broader log of faction movements, invasions, natural events, and world-level changes. In Year 1 Month 11 you might see 16 or more World Events even in an early run, because the world is active regardless of what Taiwu is doing.
The report also shows the month description at the top. Month of Rat (Month 11) states: 'The eleventh month, when all things withdraw and return to storage. Metal and Jade resources in some locations will be restored. Injuries cannot recover naturally.' That last sentence is a gameplay warning: during Month of Rat, passive injury recovery stops, so treat injuries before month-end if you are carrying damage.
- Taiwu Notes: your own actions that month (fights, encounters, places).
- World Events: faction, invasion, and natural events — up to 16+ per month.
- Interactions: social actions between characters.
- Month description at the top contains seasonal gameplay rules — read it.
- Month of Rat specifically: Metal and Jade resources restore; passive injury recovery stops.
- Show Hidden toggle: reveals events the game hid — useful for tracking faction activity.

What to act on from the report
Most new players dismiss the Monthly Report immediately. That is a mistake. World Events often contain early warning signs: a nearby faction growing in power, an invasion countdown ticking, or a resource window opening. Spending thirty seconds reading the event list each month is one of the cheapest ways to avoid being surprised by world-level changes.
Taiwu Notes doubles as a personal record of your play. If a fight made the notes, it was significant enough for the game to flag. Interactions that appear there often have follow-up options in the next month.
- Check World Events for faction movements and invasion pressure.
- Metal and Jade restoring in Month of Rat = good time to gather those resources.
- If passive injury recovery is suspended, treat wounds before month end.
- Taiwu Notes flagged events often have follow-up options next month.
- Use the 'Show Hidden' toggle on World Events to see hidden faction activity.

FAQ
What is the Taiwu Monthly Report?
A monthly digest that appears automatically at the end of each in-game month. It shows Taiwu Notes (your own actions), World Events (world-level changes), and Interactions (social actions between characters). The month description at the top contains seasonal gameplay rules.
Does the month-end transition mean the game auto-saved?
Yes. The game auto-saves at the end of each in-game month during the month-change sequence. There is no manual save between month-ends, so your last checkpoint is always the previous month-end.
What does 'Injuries cannot recover naturally' mean in the Month of Rat?
During Month of Rat (Month 11), passive injury recovery is suspended. Injuries you carry into this month will not heal on their own — you need to actively treat them with medicine, Medical Care, or faction interactions. Treat wounds before Month 11 begins if possible.
Why does the Monthly Report show so many World Events so early?
The game world runs on its own schedule regardless of what your character is doing. Factions move, resources shift, and events fire whether or not Taiwu is present. Sixteen or more World Events in Year 1 Month 11 is normal — the world is not waiting for you.
What is the 'Show Hidden' toggle in the report?
It reveals events the game filtered out by default — often faction movements or world changes that are happening but not immediately relevant to your character. Useful for players who want to track faction activity or plan resource gathering around world events.
