What Changed in The Scroll of Taiwu 1.0

A plain-English overview of what the 1.0 release changed compared to Early Access — official English support, UI rework, new content, and what it means for new players.

The headline: official English, finally

The biggest change in 1.0 is the first official English support after years of Early Access where English players relied on community translation mods. Core combat, attributes, faction, and UI terms now ship in English out of the box.

The translation is playable but not fully finished on launch day. Some item and skill descriptions still appear in Chinese, which is why every page on this site keeps the original Chinese term beside the English so you can match in-game text, fan guides, and official wording to the same concept.

  • First official English build — no translation mod required.
  • Combat, attributes, factions, and UI are in English.
  • Some item/skill descriptions may still be Chinese at launch.

Switching to English and the version label

After the June 17 day-one patch, the main menu boots Chinese-first but has a language switcher in the top-left corner (a small globe icon): 简体中文 / 繁體中文 / English / 한국어. Language is also under Settings → first tab.

Do not be alarmed by the version number. The main menu shows 1.0.1 after the day-one patch, while some build strings still read v0.84.75. Both are the 1.0 release — the preserved old Early Access client lives on a separate 'test' beta branch.

  • Switch language: globe icon, top-left of the main menu → English.
  • 1.0.1 in the menu (some strings say v0.84.75) is still the 1.0 build.
  • The old Early Access build is a separate opt-in beta branch.

Reworked UI, new tutorial, and NPC AI

1.0 reworks the user interface and adds a new tutorial flow, which makes the opening far more approachable than older Early Access builds shown in many existing video guides.

NPC AI was also enhanced. If you read older guides, some NPC behavior and event timing will not match what you see now, so prefer up-to-date sources for anything behavior-related.

  • Reworked UI and a new tutorial reduce the early-game wall.
  • Enhanced NPC AI changes some behavior versus Early Access.
  • Older video guides may show outdated menus and flows.

New story content

The 1.0 release adds new story lines on top of the existing sandbox, giving returning players fresh content and new players more guided entry points into the world.

You do not need to engage every story line at once. Treat them as optional threads to pull on after your character is stable, not mandatory tasks during your first ten hours.

  • 1.0 ships additional story lines alongside the open sandbox.
  • Story content is optional pacing, not a required checklist.
  • Stabilize your character first, then explore stories.

What it means if you played Early Access

If you played a Chinese or modded Early Access build, your muscle memory mostly carries over, but menus, terms, and some systems have moved. Old saves and character transfer have their own rules covered in a dedicated guide.

If you are brand new, ignore the Early Access history entirely and start from the current beginner route. The 1.0 onboarding is the best entry point the game has ever had.

  • Returning players: expect relocated menus and updated English terms.
  • Check the old-saves guide before assuming your save carries over.
  • New players: start fresh from the current beginner route.

FAQ

Does The Scroll of Taiwu 1.0 have official English?

Yes. 1.0 is the first build with official English support. Earlier Early Access versions required a community translation mod. Core combat, attributes, faction, and UI terms are in English, though some item and skill descriptions may still appear in Chinese at launch.

Why does the version say v0.84.75 if it is 1.0?

The main menu shows 1.0.1 after the day-one patch, while some internal build strings still read v0.84.75. Both refer to the 1.0 release. The old Early Access client is preserved on a separate opt-in 'test' beta branch.

Is 1.0 beginner-friendly compared to Early Access?

Yes. 1.0 reworks the UI and adds a new tutorial, which makes the opening more approachable than older Early Access builds. It is the best entry point the game has had for new players.
